PLANNING GROUP COMMITTEE MEMBERS WANTED for Glasgow & West Eating Disorders Networking Group

Glasgow & West Eating Disorders Networking Group is a networking, ideas, discussion and interest group for anyone in Scotland with a professional interest in eating disorders. 

Please note this is NOT a support group for those experiencing eating disorders. It will also be separate from the other services we provide (e.g. CBT, psychotherapy, counselling, coaching, groups, mental health consultations, supervision, training etc.)

A group of us started a similar network group in 2012 and it continued until 2016. This was for anyone interested in eating disorders either in a professional capacity from different parts of Scotland, who would like to network, meet for discussions, gatherings, focus groups, social activities, events and lots more.

We are now re-launching and re-naming the networking group in 2019 and now looking for some new Planning Group Committee Members to join us before we begin recruiting members to the group. Please note this is an unpaid/voluntary role.

The Planning Group will be responsible for coming up with ideas for events, groups, networking, finding venues, helping with advertising, helping organise events/meetings, recruiting new Members and more. 

Glasgow & West Eating Disorders Networking Group provides those with a professional interest in eating disorders with a space and setting in which to discuss ideas; share information; network; meet others with an interest in eating disorders; gain new skills and knowledge and meet with others who have an interest in eating disorders in a variety of settings (e.g. workshops, meetings, peer supervision, social events, book clubs and more. 

It can be lonely working or volunteering in the field of eating disorders at times, can’t it? It’s good to talk to others who work or volunteer in the field of have an interest in developing their work in the field. Sharing knowledge, skills, ideas, experiences and potentially working together is invaluable. Let’s join up and get to know each other and each other’s work, skills, knowledge and experiences a bit more. 

All Planning Group Committee Members are asked to commit volunteering approximately 2-3 hours per month, for at least one year. This may be less or slightly more some months depending on what we are doing. Many things can be done from home when attendance at meetings/gatherings is not required. You will join a team consisting of other Planning Group Committee Members from various backgrounds, with different experiences and all contributing unique and invaluable skills to Glasgow & West Eating Disorders Networking Group.

This is an excellent opportunity to be involved with and provided great experience in the field of eating disorders. Being a Planning Group Committee Member can be extremely interesting and rewarding, giving you the chance to exercise existing skills and develop new ones. You will also gain new knowledge, meet new people, gain new friends, make new contacts, get the chance to network, create ideas, be innovative, as well as gain new opportunities and be an integral part in the development and success of the networking group. 

The Planning Group Committee will meet several times a year in our office in Glasgow city centre. We will also keep in touch in-between these 'official' meetings.

Vacancy: Affiliate Therapist: Adult Eating Disorders (16+): Glasgow city centre (one morning/afternoon per week plus possible additional referrals)

CLOSING DATE: FRIDAY 16th AUGUST 2019

1/2 Price Place at Therapist Peer Support and Supervision Group on 03.08.19, Glasgow city centre

I  am holding a Therapist Peer Support and Supervision Group for some of my affiliates/supervisees/room users on Saturday 3rd August 2019, 10am-12.20pm. I am offering this at 1/2 price (£10). This offers 2.5 hours CPD and can be counted towards supervision ratios. CPD certificate and refreshments included in price. It will be held in the office in Hope Street, Glasgow city centre.

I have one place left for anyone who is interested. It's not a The CBT'ers Club event (since the club is taking a break this year), however, it will be very similar to the Therapist Peer Support and Supervision Groups helps at The CBT'ers Club.

The space is only open to anyone who has been to one of The CBT'ers Club groups/meetings/events previously.
